UNO believes that Chicagoland's Hispanic community is similar to its Irish, German, and Polish counterparts. As with these immigrant groups, Hispanics have come to the United States to build upon and benefit from American opportunity, working hard to create better lives for their families.
Representing an historic wave of immigration to the United States, today's Hispanics are the newest incarnation of the American tradition; their ability and optimism are at the heart of the American dream.

While UNO's activities are definitely broad, they are essentially focused on one simple goal: to challenge Hispanics to make the most of American opportunity. UNO's efforts have always been grounded in the belief that Hispanics can and must build a vital American community, creating success for their families in American proportions. Our organization has long been a catalyst in this process and we hope that our website follows in this same tradition.
