Community Outreach
UNO has maximized our grassroots presence through partnerships with a variety of government and non-profit agencies, seeking to promote new community services, upcoming events, and enrollment into available programs. In recent years, as the organization has grown, our partnerships have, as well.
UNO's Community Outreach Partners:

Department of Planning and Development (DPD)— UNO provides assistance to small businesses in predominately Hispanic neighborhoods by increasing awareness of the city’s programs and initiatives

Department of Housing—UNO assists senior citizens, providing home repairs through H-RAIL (Home Repairs for Accessible and Independent Living)

Illinois Department of Public Health, Office of Women’s Health—UNO offers workshops to Hispanic women on menopause and peri-menopause

Illinois Department of Human Services—UNO conducts an after-school program to serve at-risk youth by utilizing the Hispanic community’s commitment to soccer as a mechanism to reach teens through academics, athletics, mentoring, life skills, and parent involvement.

IL Dept of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (IL DCEO)—UNO provides technology skills training and English as a Second Language classes to parents and community residents to bridge the digital divide in Hispanic communities

Chicago Public Schools, Renaissance 2010—as part of Mayor Daley’s initiative to increase the number of quality public schools in Chicago by 2010, UNO continues our aggressive growth plan as the charter managing entity of a network of 8 schools in Chicago, including our first high school

Chicagoland Area Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation—UNO conducts an education program to increase awareness of breast cancer in 800 Chicagoland Hispanic women, who are disproportionately affected by this disease due to a lack of early detection and adequate health care
