English as a Second Language (ESL)
The UNO English as a Second Language program advances the UNO mission as it provides the Hispanic community with English, an essential tool for empowerment. English language acquisition is at the core of immigrant assimilation and economic success.
UNO’s ESL curriculum is designed with these long-term goals in mind, working with the students to build their confidence and to consistently improve their communication skills. Our classes emphasize community involvement, through real life practical English, out of classroom field trips, and by encouraging our students to facilitate their own learning outside of class time.
The goal of UNO’s ESL course is to maximize the full potential of each student. We seek to improve fluency and speaking competence by learning the vocabulary, expressions, and grammatical language forms needed for everyday use.
We offer the following classes during morning and evening hours:
- Beginners Course
- Intermediate Course
- Advanced conversational courses
